Brief overview of the game. Round 3 Round 3 saw us take on Bateau Bay at home. We had everyone turn up which was great - thanks to all the parents. As Bateau Bay had heaps of players we relied on them giving us players each quarter to even up. Thanks to Bateau Bay & Coach Bob Beasley. I was so pleased with our efforts on the day, particularly the last quarter. EVERYONE had a go for the team & for the Club. I was so impressed as Coach I gave EVERYONE a Beagle Boys Pizza award. A summary of individual performances is as follows:- Gee Man Junior - Gee Man was our Captain on the day & did a great job. He was awarded "Best On Ground Trophy". Gee Man again got heaps of kicks by attacking & chasing the ball. He kicked the ball that hard that he often threw himself to the ground in the process. The way Gee Man Junior chases the ball is something I want us all to learn. Keep showing us how Gee Man Junior - top stuff. Murph- Jordy has a little problem with his hair at the moment as we all are aware of. We all accept Jordy for who he is because we all respect him as a Team Mate. Unfortunately one of the opposition players tried to make fun of Jordy & his hair cut on Saturday. Jordy showed great courage & self endeavour to ignore this kid & focus on his team, his game, his team mates, & having fun. Fun, after all that's what we are all here for. Top stuff Jordy. He got the "Anaconda" award for a great personal best. We are all proud of you mate. Blue - What a top effort again mate, a tower of strength all over the ground. Blue has great kicking skills and we can all learn something from him, particularly at training. I want us all, by the end of the year, to be able to kick the ball as accurately and as well as Blue. Great game again mate. Charley - Charley had another top game by getting in & getting involved. She is really enjoying her footy & having a red hot go. Charley got a few kicks, chased well & made heaps of tackles. Keep it up mate. Go Charley go!!! JJ - Another good game mate in a new code of footy. JJ chased well & created opportunities for us when he got the ball. You will improve each week as you learn the new game mate - I look forward to seeing this. Well done JJ. Jacko - Had a great game & got more involved this time around. Got a few kicks and made a lots of tackles. Doing really well in a new code Jacko - believe in yourself mate - I do. Let's build on this mate. Well done. Jezza - What a great game mate. Jezza is demonstrating to us all the skills of listening to the Coach (with his eyes) & using the new skills in his game - like calling out to who he is giving the ball to. What a top game Jezza - very happy with your performance. Keep it up mate. Chops - Another player new to the code who has heaps of energy & chases the ball all day. Had a great game & an incredible last quarter where he became a ball magnate. You have shown us that you have the ability Chops, time to step up to the next level mate. Well done. Chucky Norris - Yes, we have a player called Chucky Norris, and what a great game he had. This was Chucky's first game with us and what a game he had. Chucky attacks the ball at ground level and was often found wrestling for the ball in scrimmages where once he had hold of the ball he didn't lose it to the opposition. This helped us by causing the Umpire to stop play & throw the ball up, giving us another chance to win & clear the ball. We call all learn from Chucky's great ability to attack the ball on the ground. Top stuff mate, you did well. Now, as you all got Beagle Boys Pizza vouchers I want you all to remember that Pizza every now & then is OK but great footballers in the AFL eat heaps of fruit & vegetables. Pasta is a great meal the night before a game of footy. So, enjoy your Pizzas but remember sensible eating - and drink lots of water, especially before training & a game!!!
